Most of the the Station has fertilizer applied by airplane since the hills are too steep to do from a ground spreader.
Bulk fertilizer is hauled out by truck and dumped into the super bin. Then when the planes can fly the fertilizer is scooped out of the bin and loaded into the planes.

spreading The plane then takes off and flys a set pattern to distibute the fertilizer. Not an easy task, especially is the wind starts to pick up!
At Castlepoint the window of opportunity for good flying weather (not too much wind), can be pretty small, so often they fly two planes.
